Avengers: Endgame - Throw It All At The Wall And See What Sticks? Everything. (Almost.)

***NO SPOILERS FOR ENDGAME, BUT SPOILERS FOR PREVIOUS MCU FILMS - ESPECIALLY INFINITY WAR AND ANT-MAN AND THE WASP, ABOUND WITHIN. YOU'VE BEEN WARNED.***

It all ends here.

Well, not really. There's more. We know there's more.

But yes, this 22nd film of the Marvel Cinematic Universe brings to a close Book One - the Infinity Saga - after eleven years of entertainment and ever-decreasing patience on the part of we the fans.

And if you don't let the inevitable plot holes brought on by the very premise of this one bring you down, well, you're in for a hell of a ride.

"Whatever it takes," Cap says. And he's soooo right.

I promised no spoilers on this one, except for previous MCU movies, and I'm sticking to that. So I won't give away even a single detail that's not in the trailers. All I will say is this: following Thanos eliminating half the life in the universe - and leaving poor Scott Lang trapped in the Quantum Realm because nobody was there to pull him back out - it's been brutal on our surviving Avengers, to say nothing of all the civilians left behind.

Then we get some dashes of humor too, because what else do we get when James Gunn's executive producer? (Even if he was fired for a minute there.) Plus some killer soundtrack bits as well.

And then of course, because it's the culmination of the Infinity Saga, we get some brilliant extended callbacks to our favorite times and places.

Overall, this movie plays out like an epic thousand-page fantasy novel in the modern day, with multiple different genres thrown in as a combination of all those that the MCU's done takeoffs of before. Everything you could ask for and more is in this one, with so many shades of previous cinematic Grand Finales - I'm especially thinking of Deathly Hallows, Return of the Jedi, and The Return of the King. Just don't try and analyze the script too deeply - though, of course, if you're like me, Speedy, and Willow, you're going to start the second the three-hour tour ends, and it's almost fun to unravel the loose threads just because we can. But yeah, Endgame is nothing short of an A+ from me, even with the aforementioned plot holes - and that one death that made me more pissed off than anything else.

Though this one doesn't play Game of Thrones rules with death, and you know that because there's one in particular that delivers the greatest impact and will make you cry absolute buckets like you haven't done since poor little Petey didn't feel so good.

Till next time, Pinecones...
